Herb's Description

Myrica nagi Thunb. A small or moderate-sized ever green tree 3-15 m high, trunk girth, 92.5 cm; Bark grey or brownish grey, rough with deep wrinkles; the male and the female trees have almost similar appearance. Leaves, almost crowded towards the end of branches, lancecolate, oblong-obovate, 9.2 cm long, 3.2 cm broad; lower surface, pale green; upper surface, dark green. flowers minute, unisexual, in axillary spikes; fruit an ellipsoid or ovoid drupe of the size of cherry, tubercled, reddish or cheese-coloured when ripe, with rugose nut.
Myrica nagi Thunb's Flower. Pistillate flowers, very small, sessile, solitary and bracteate; sepals and petals, either absent or not visible; inflorescence, a catkin, 4.2 cm long, axillary, bearing about 25 flowers; only a thread-like style visible with the unaided eye.
