The liver is the commonest extraintestinal site of infection. Liver abscesses can be solitary or multiple. 80% of abscess develop in right lobe of liver and can present several years after intestinal infection. It is characterized by malaise pyrexia, weight loss, mild right hypochondrial pain, diarrhoea.
