Rho (D) Immune Globulin

Overview

Rho (D) Immune Globulin is a sterile solution of globulins derived from human plasma containing antibody to the erythrocyte factor Rh? (D) antigen. Rho (D) Immune Globulin is used to prevent a Rh-negative mother from forming antibodies to fetal Rh-positive cells which may pass into the maternal circulation. The objective is to protect any subsequent child from the hazard of the haemolytic disease of the newborn. Anti-D immunoglobulin should be administered following any sensitizing episode e.g abortion, miscarriage and birth.

300 ug300 (300)24 hourlyIMGive within 72 Hours of fullterm delivery of an Rho (D) Positive infant. Incidence can be further reduced by giving two doses, one at 28 weeks gestation, one following delivery
