Aminoglutethimide is antineoplastic agent, also called as anticancer drug. Aminoglutethimide is effective in the treatment of breast cancers to slow or stop the growth of abnormal cells. Aminoglutethimide is used in combination of different anticancer drugs to obtain most excellent therapeutic effects and minimize unwanted effects or toxicities.

Warfarin (Na)

Interaction of Warfarin (Na) with Aminoglutethimide

Details: Aminoglutethimide may increase the metabolism, via CYP isoenzymes, of Warfarin.
Management: Increase frequency of monitoring warfarin effects (eg, prothrombin time) with addition of aminoglutethimide. Monitor for decreased therapeutic effects of Warfarin if aminoglutethimide is initiated/dose increased, or increased effects if aminoglutethimide is discontinued/dose decreased.

These interactions are sometimes beneficial and sometimes may pose threats to life. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required.
