Herb's Description
Asphaltum. Silajit is a blackish-brown exudation from steep rocks of different formations. It exudes from the rocks of mountains in summer season due to strong heat of the sun(186). It is also regarded as a tar formed in the earth from the decomposition of vegetable substances mixed with inorganic matter, or ejected out matter of rocks during hot weather in the lower Himalayas.
