    Prunus domestica Linn.. A decidious Tree growing to 6m by 5m at a medium rate. It is in flower in April, and the seeds ripen in October. The flowers are hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and are pollinated by Bees, insects.A small tree, with twigs pubescent when young, flowers white usually in clusters, fruits firm in texture, varying in colour from green and golden yellow to red and dark purple; stones large, rough or pitted.
