Paeonia emodi Wall. ex Hk.. A herbaceous or shrubby perennial, 30.5-61.0 cm in height bearing a cluster of roots. Leaves 15.2-30.5 cm long, once or twice ternetisect; leaflets decurrent, entire or incised. Flowers unisexual, 3-8; peduncle long, curved and maroon-coloured, emerging from near the pedicel(20), follicles ovoid with a few seeds
